Wanted Professional from Power Projects / Industrial Water Systems@Hyderabad

For a slew of projects for our infrastructure industry clients, we are on the look out for Engineers across different functions/levels and domains.
Positions exist for professionals from 6 to 20yrs experience with experience in Power Projects / Industrial Water Systems -with specific focus on any :
1) Coal handling
2) Rotating equipment
3) Boiler Plant Layout, Detailed Layout drawings of BOP Systems.
4) Circulating Cooling Water, Raw Water Systems
Also required are
a) Electrical Engineers with hands on exp in process design, calculations, equipment sizing, preparation of purchase specifications, technical evaluation of the bids, participation in technical meetings with vendors and clients/consultants, vendor document review/approval and site technical support

b) Mechanical Engineers for
i)Water systems, Fire Protection, HVAC & Misc.BoP systems with good process knowledge, analytical & Communication skills,

Director Finance @Hyderabad

The requirement is for a mid size organisation in Hyderabad -with about 500 employees.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director finance will set the company's financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. S/he will lead all financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will work closely with a motivated and engaged finance and governance committee of the board of directors, apart from investors.

Specific responsibilities include:
a)Strategy
-Partner with the CEO on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
-Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.
Financial and Operational Management

Oversee budgeting, and the implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.

Ensure that finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and monitor the use of all funds.
Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics for funding organizations and board of directors; prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
Qualifications
The Director will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least 12-15 years of broad finance experience, ideally beginning in audit, followed by experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. S/he will ideally have experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting), and IT for an organisation.
The ideal person would be :

-A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
-An effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills.
-Strong commitment to developing team members.
- Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for the organization’s mission is essential.

India is among the fastest growing telecom markets in the world.

What are we presently working on?

The slow pace of the recruitment life cycle in the recent past, had probably psyched me too!! I just realise that its almost 3 months since I updated this section of my blog.
But as we reviewed last evening, there are opportunities galore..across industries,locations and levels. So let me try and list them out -not in any specific order, but more to try and capture the diversity.
-Country Manager for a MNC in the wimax space wanting to expand its presence in India. We are on the look out for a topnotch professional who has had strong grounding in the business unit operations and project deployment/ management in the burgeoning telecom industry. Be it from the Equipment manufacturers, or system integrator's and Tier 1 Operators!
-Director Sales to spearhead the penetration of a VC funded firm in the business of distributed water services sector in India.The project will provide access to affordable and clean drinking water to rural households, and hence requires the professional to work with various State government departments across the country.
-Director Rural Marketing based in Hyderabad. The onus is to provide ongoing outreach and education that effectively communicate the relationship of clean water, hygiene and good health. Ideal person would be familiar with all innovative methods to appeal to the consumers in the rural areas of India-be it advertising or folk music or street plays!
- Technical Architect for a IT startup setting up an offshore development centre for handling services for an American firm. Being the employee no. 2 in the firm, the role would involve the challenges of working in a bootstrapped environment, attracting and motivating talent to help shape the company...
-Business Development managers ( based in US and in Hyderabad) to represent a company in the Outsourced Product Development services domain. The decade old company has an impressive slew of products in house, and a powerhouse of talent -and is willing to reward attractive variable pay component to stretch the best!!
--A topnotch MNC player in the aseptic packaging is looking for Dairy/Food technologists with a strong grounding in microbiology -to help their clients adopt the best manufacturing practices, in a bid to raise the quality of raw milk sourcing/production and distribution in India.
- Treasury openings exist in Chennai and Hyderabad for professionals in the 3-8yrs experience.

Round up of jobs-as of 20th May

As I analyze the jobs posted on the NPA splitzone -the platform that about 400 of us associates of the global network use to share HOT candidates and HOT job openings, there are some interesting observations that are validated!!

1. There is hiring happening-as a trickle-but mostly these are all 'tough nuts to crack' types. "Wonderful to have' type requirements, which are almost perennially open-hoping and waiting for the 'elusive catch'!!

2. Almost all the positions posted are specialists in nature. Despite jobs being listed all across the globe, one underlying feature -is the lack of expat jobs!! Almost everyone wants local candidates to be hired -even if the positions are abroad.

As an associate from Israel explained it -"I serve Israeli clients in APAC and actually I am very busy and have lots of new openings in China, Singapore and AU. Lots of openings but slow to close if at all"

Well, I am hoping to get to work on a Nasdaq listed client of hers -who is looking for a VP Sales in India. 

3.Collaboration works better!! Over the past year-we have noticed that especially in cross border senior hires, it is very essential to be in sync with the cultural sensitivities-both at the client level and the candidate level-to make a great hire.

Recently, we closed a mandate for a Country Manager for a Canadian company referred to us by an American associate who successfully hand held us-by setting expectations and continuous communication!! The key is the 'consultative approach' that clinched us-instead of the usual 'commodity approach' when job descriptions are shared across the internet!

Round up of jobs handled as of 30th March!

Hungry for Power!!
Its a feeling of deja vu as I try to list out some of the openings we are working on!!A lot of them happen to be in the infrastructure industry! In line with the latest 5 year plan -there are a lot of players in the power industry -trying to build capacity to bridge the growing demand and supply gap of almost 75000 MW!!
The positions are across the supply chain!! Across different levels and functions, for eg:
-Sr General manager-fund raising
-Sr Manager -civil construction
-Sales Manager-power generation equipment company
-Production manager -power generation company
-Quality and Materials Manager for a engineering company
-Legal professionals with exposure to power sector. Positions exist not just in the contracts area, but also in the litigation and at the legal research associate level!
Sticking to infra, we also have some positions for a company that handles turnkey projects-across the country-but for setting up water treatment plants in remote locations. HUNTERS -Business Development roles galore!!

There is a limit to the cost cutting exercises any company can attempt, right?
The recent week has seen a spurt of Sales/Business Development roles come up through our network of associates -most of them in IT space. Here is a sample of the HUNTERS required!
1.Vice President level role for a large IT services company.
The ideal person would have handled a SBU -in the BFSI space. Someone who is responsible for handling about 100m USD business-or handled huge accounts amounting to similar value. Its largely a sales driven role (80%) with a bit of delivery responsibility (20%). The position could be based anywhere in the US.
2 VP Sales- for a BPO
The ideal person would have handled 50 m USD deals in the BFSI segment in the recent past. Based in California/NJ, the VP will report to the Head of Americas.
3.Business Development Managers - based in US, UK, Australia and Singapore.
Multiple positions exist for persons in the 8-12yrs experience category with at least 3 yrs in one of the following domains- Data warehousing & Business Intelligence, Testing, Content Management & Portal, Mainframes & Mid range, Consulting services.
4. Retail Consultant- based in Chennai
We are looking for a 10-12yrs exp retail specialist- a client facing role who would gather requirements and initial bits of design.
5. Technical Evangelist-Information Management
Based in Bangalore, this role would involve a lot of travel ( almost 50% of the time)!!
