For a BIG FOUR consulting firm expanding its presence in Southern Europe, we are on the lookout for seasoned consulting professionals for developing & delivering business over multiple client engagements

The ideal person would be someone with a flair in Compensation & Benefits with a strong grounding in job evaluation/competency mapping and HR systems.

We are looking at MBAs from premier schools-with about 6-9yrs post qualification experience in a good international consulting firm -with a strong business orientation & ability to develop and present solutions to prospects and clients.

Those with lesser handson experience in compensation,performance management, M&A, setting up HR systems for startups -can be considered for a senior consultant role. The operative term, as my client put it, was 'an intelligent slogger' who is strong analytically, and good on tools and methodologies.

Salaries are exciting-with an additional 20% thrown in as variable pay! Remember, the tax rate in that part of the world is 22%-and so one can imagine a better savings potential!!

Senior management positions -Infrastructure industry

There is a lot of action in the real estate/construction/infrastructure industry, especially with a lot of recent IPOs in the market.

I take this opportunity to try and consolidate some of the openings we are privy to- both through our associate network, as well as some direct clients. I realise that they span locations, levels and indeed, sound very comprehensive. While some of the lesser known brands are accused of hiring 'trespassers', I think the bigger names are pretty choosy about the specific nature /quality of experience the professional is bringing to the table!

-CFO positions for handling entry into new businesses in the industry. eg SEZs, Multiplexes, Malls, Commercial, residenial, Hotels,IT parks, hospitals.

-Group Tax planning head ( Vice President level)

-GM direct taxation-handling tax assessments

-Senior treasury professionals- who should have handled fund raising activities in excess of 250 crores in the recent years.

-GM legal. There are specific openings for persons with experience in corporate law/MOUs/ agreements-as well as those who are familiar with the local laws related to land acquisitions.

-GM accounts- pure accounting operations -finalisation of accounts-as there are seperate departments to handle finance,treasury, tax, audit, costing etc.

On the operations side, there is an acute demand for persons who have substantial experience in Dubai/Middle East region in having handled projects in the high rise apartments.And specifically for

-electromechanical professionals. Mechanical engineers who have been involved in the construction projects and have handled installation and erection of lifts, DG sets, HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, electrical etc.

-"fit outs" : Either architects or civil engineers handling interiors. They hand hold the clients from the time of booking to the possession of the premises and coordinate with the external consultants handling various aspects of interiors.

-Yes, and finally as the projects are in advanced stages at some locations,there is an acute demand for professionals who have experience in selling/leasing space to corporates. Those working with international property consultants and have sold a few million sft space in the recent past are HOT !!

Jobs in sectors other than IT!!

As we approach the middle of this week, let me try and put down some of the exciting opportunities that we are working on -this week! While some of the positions are confidential and will be handled with the required sensitivity, I shall also add that some of these positions are being frontended by my colleagues in the recruitment fraternity..mainly some of the ERA members.

-Brand Manager for a MNC leading fashion garment company. Based in Bangalore, the ideal person would be a 'non premier' MBA graduate with about 8 to 10yrs of experience in the industry-with atleast a couple of years stint in the Indian garment/fashion industry. The position has been open for a month and a half now and so you can expect it to be closed asap!

-Couple of Finance positions are there for the asking.

One is a CFO of a regional aviation company wanting to expand its operations nationally- and so is looking for a CA with about 20yrs exp and adept at raising funds thru various instruments.

There is also a Finance head position in a Mumbai based Pharma company- where a CA with abt 15yrs experience is required to handle independently the finance ops, apart from compliances and treasury. Ideal candidate would be a CA + CS with atleast 4-5yrs in pharma & allied industries/


-Couple of HR Head positions .

A General Manager level person is desired for a large Indian professionally managed Business House for its new plant -away from the hustle of a metro city!! Ideal person would be a premier institute MBA with abt 15yrs experience- strong in IR (industrial relations) with a very good HR orientation. The position reports into the Director HR -based at the corporate office of the company.

The other opening desired for a person with a strong " sales HR" background ! This is for a Pharma company which is in a startup phase, and so would it is imperative that the incumbent have experience of setting up the guidelines, policies and framework of a pharmaceutical organisation.

Coming to think of it ,yes, there is also a need for a HR Head for a service company based in Chennai! The VP level person would be spearheading the company into a National presence.
